The subsidiary church Landegg is reset at the Badenerstraße in Landegg in the market town of Pottendorf in the district of Baden in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic branch church of the Pottendorf parish church , consecrated to the Exaltation of the Cross , belongs to the Weigelsdorf deanery in the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church and the cemetery wall are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A church was officially founded in 1650. The church was destroyed in the Turkish War in 1683, rebuilt and consecrated in 1693. The church was bombed in 1944 during World War II . From 1948 to 1950 a new church was built according to plans by the architect Johann Zahlbruckner. The outside of the church was restored in 1998.

architecture

The church is a hall church in the Heimatschutz style . A recessed low round apse adjoins the nave with arched windows under a gable roof. The half-set east tower has three-part arched openings with concrete pillars and an onion helmet. On the north side there is a sacristy extension under a pent roof.

Inside there is a hall with a flat ceiling with visible wooden beams, the wooden east gallery stands on wooden pillars. The semicircular choir has a flat ceiling. The stained glass in the apse depicting the Descent from the Cross , Entombment and Resurrection was created by Florian Jakowitsch (1958).

Furnishing

The crucifix was created in 1953 by the sculptor Gustav Strasser, and from 1970 to 1973 he created the crossways reliefs. The statues of Mary and Bishop are from the construction time. The statuette of Anthony of Padua was made around 1900.
