The Pockhorn Church is a branch church of the Heiligenblut Parish Church and is dedicated to St. Martin . It stands on the left bank of the Möll below the Heiligenblut valley step.

history

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1389. The choir was consecrated in 1516. The west portal is marked with 1527, the nave vault with 1559. The church was restored in 1959.

The Heiligenblut carol singers come to this church every year on the night of January 5th to 6th to sing and pray the song Grodeck .

Building

A plinth made of serpentine with water hammer at the corners extends around the entire exterior . The two-bay choir with a 5/8 end is shifted in the axis to the south. The tower north of the choir has tracery windows , pointed gables and a tall helmet from 1898. The sacristy is located on the tower ground floor . In the quarry-stone porch is a shed that was previously used for sacrificial animals. The pointed arched, profiled west portal is made of gray-green serpentine.

A mesh rib vault extends over strong, polygonal wall templates above the three-bay nave. In the west there is a wooden gallery with two wooden pillars. A pointed arched triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir. In the choir, a ribbed vault spans semicircular templates. The keystones are painted with a Man of Sorrows , Saints Bartholomew and Remigius and a coat of arms. Vine paintings can be seen in the vaulted fields. From the north wall of the choir, a pointed arched door leads into the sacristy, above is a door with a straight lintel, which is the entrance to the tower.

In 2012, preparations for an interior renovation began.

Facility

The high altar dates from the middle of the 18th century. Saint Martin with a beggar is depicted on the altarpiece. It is flanked by the statues of Saints Nicholas and Julius . The figure of God the Father floats in the essay. The two side altars from around 1670 have remarkable cartilage ornamentation. On the left side altar, with a guardian angel image as the altar leaf, there is a figure of Mary as Queen of Heaven from the second half of the 17th century. The middle picture of the right side altar shows the Holy Family . The pulpit basket from the last quarter of the 17th century is decorated with pictures of the evangelists . The volutes of the sound cover are crowned with a monstrance with the IHS mark. Above the triumphal arch is a crucifix with the tools of the Passion and carved poor souls in purgatory .
