The Roman Catholic branch church St. Thomas near Oberdörfl / Gornja vas in the municipality of Sankt Margareten im Rosental belongs to the parish of St. Margareten. It was first mentioned in a document in 1430.

Building description

Today's church is a new building built in 1757. A western ridge turret with a pointed roof rises above the nave . A square sacristy adjoins the retracted choir to the east . The arched west portal is protected by a canopy on two pillars.

The nave and choir have barrel vaults with stitch caps . The east walls of the nave are sloping towards the arched triumphal arch . The windows in the nave are rectangular, those in the choir are arched. On the wooden west gallery is an organ built by Franz Knoller between 1710 and 1750.

Facility

The high altar from the middle of the 18th century consists of a baroque pilaster retable with sloping side parts. Above the tabernacle there is a small group of figures with the incredulous Thomas . On the side are the holy martyrs Sebastian and Laurentius in the essay Jesus Christ . The left side altar with a columned retable from the beginning of the 18th century carries the sculptures of Saints Antonius Abbas , Markus and Rochus . The right side altar from the beginning of the 18th century hides a statue of the Madonna in the central niche , with the figures of Saints Nicholas and Joseph on the side . The top picture shows St. Helena . The crown of the altar is the sculpture of St. Apollonia .
