Filial church St. Ulrich

The branch church St. Ulrich bei Villach belongs to the parish Maria Landskron. Ortisei is mentioned for the first time in 1431. During the restoration in 1966, the building was significantly redesigned with Romanesque and Gothic elements. The nave was widened and lengthened. The easterly ridge turret with arched sound openings is crowned by a small onion helmet. The lower, slightly drawn in Gothic choir ends with a 5/8 end . The sacristy and the newly built mortuary are connected to the north . The former west portal, a late Gothic, profiled pointed arch portal is now on the north side. The church is entered through the new south portal with a canopy.

Inside, in the extended part of the nave, the open, wood-clad roof structure can be seen. A flat wooden ceiling spans the Romanesque part of the nave. The organ gallery is made of concrete. The semicircular triumphal arch was widened in 1966. The one-yoke choir has a lancet barrel vault. A Gothic shoulder arch portal leads into the cross-vaulted sacristy.

The chancel was redesigned in 1995/96 by R. Kamnig. The small Gothic winged altar is remarkable, which was created before or around 1500 by the older Villach workshop . In the middle is the statue of St. Ulrich , on the inside of the wings St. Nicholas and Rupert can be seen, on the outside Mary and the Annunciation Angel . The baroque hanging cross from the beginning of the 18th century used to be used as a lecture cross . The former high altar of the church is now in the church of Vassach .
