The course leaders in special paratroopers , also referred to as commando leader course , was a course from 1990 to 1994 for the command leaders of the command companies of the three airborne brigades of the 1st airborne division of the Bundeswehr .

General

With the establishment of the command companies, they worked out a course for commanders in cooperation with members of the 1st Battalion of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 5th Inspection of the Airborne and Air Transport School in Altenstadt . The prerequisite for participating in the six-week course was the successfully completed lone fighter course parts I and II. The course itself is said to have only been carried out three to four times since its introduction in 1990 and until it was discontinued in 1994, which is why only 75 to 85 soldiers have passed it.

Course content

The content of the course was based directly on the lone fighter course, parts I and II. The basics and extended leadership and training tasks in commando combat were taught. The training covered various application scenarios, such as B. Evacuation and freeing, in house-to-house combat , in dummy aircraft and vehicles, in combat in difficult terrain and in close combat with and without aids or weapons. The training took place at the Hammelburg military training area in Bonnland , at the Landsberg / Lech air base near Penzing and the Münsingen military training area .

badge

After successfully completing the course, the participants received a course certificate, which was also a certificate of possession for the special badge leader in paratrooper special operations . The badge shows two silver-colored oak leaves with acorns on a green base with a gold-colored oak leaf border on a gray, oval cloth. The soldiers of the army as well as soldiers of foreign armed forces are entitled to wear . In practice and due to the short existence of the course, however, it was only taken by members of the command companies.
