The high altar in the choir

The branch church in Tauchendorf is consecrated to the Archangel Michael and belongs to the parish Friedlach . The church in the municipality of Glanegg is surrounded by a sloping and partially demolished defensive wall.

Building description

The nave has a core of Romanesque masonry. Under the Gothic choir, supported by two-tier buttresses , is an ossuary with an ossuary supported by a central pillar. Remains of a St. Christopher fresco have been preserved on the southern choir wall . The south tower, which was added later, with arched windows, is crowned by a wood-clapboard onion helmet. The brick porch with arched entrances on three sides and high rectangular openings in between probably dates from the 19th century. A painted cross of the Apostles and the hand of God can be seen on the west wall of the nave . A fragment of a Roman epitaph for a local family is walled into the vestibule. You enter the church through a west portal with a straight lintel and an iron-studded door.

The flat ceiling in the nave is provided with a stucco medallion. The ceiling painting in it from the end of the 18th century shows the crucifixion of Christ. A pointed triumphal arch connects the nave and the ribbed vaulted choir with a five-eighth end . The two windows to the east are from the Gothic period, the others have been given a Baroque style. The southern sacristy has a groin vault. The consecration crosses (apostle crosses ) on the entrance wall were made in the 15th century, those on the south side in the 14th century.

Facility

The high altar from the Rococo with column architecture was taken in 1776 by Franz Höcher. The middle shrine contains the figure of the Archangel Michael with a three-flame sword and soul scales. On the side are the statues of St. John Nepomuk and St. Francis de Sales . Christ victor can be seen in the essay. A life-size crucifix hangs on the north wall of the main room .
