The branch church Trebesing is consecrated to St. Margaretha and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Gmünd .

history

The church in Trebesing was first mentioned in a document in 1307. As early as 1676, the condition of the church was described as ruinous. In 1829 a fire damaged the church. In the years 1959/1960 a restoration took place.

Building description

The building is a hall church that was built on the walls of the former nave of the Gothic complex. The former choir of the Gothic church ruin with three-eighths closure and the sacristy adjoining it to the south were demolished in 1959 down to the wall height of about one meter and today form the eastern forecourt of the church. The buried altar hall has been preserved in the former apse . The gate tower with arched double acoustic windows and a gable roof dates from around 1600.

Facility

On the high altar from the second quarter of the 18th century there is a crucifixion group that comes from the Karner von Gmünd in Carinthia . The statue of St. Michael above the west portal originally stood on the altar. Furthermore, console figures of St. Catherine and Margaretha from the 18th century complement the furnishings of the church.
