Fils (currency unit)
The Fils (in German singular and plural equal; Arabic فلساََ, DMG fils (singular) andفلوس / fulūs (plural); Abbreviation: FLS ) is a very small unit of currency in the following Arab countries:
- Bahrain : 1000 Fils = 1 Bahraini Dinar (BD)
- Iraq : 1000 Fils = 1 Iraqi Dinar (ID)
- Yemen : 100 fils = 1 Yemen rial (YRI)
- Jordan : 1000 Fils = 1 Jordanian Dinar (JD)
- Kuwait : 1000 Fils = 1 Kuwaiti Dinar (KD)
- United Arab Emirates : 100 fils = 1 UAE dirham (abb .: DH, according to ISO: AED)
- South Arab Federation : 1000 Fils = 1 South Arabian Dinar, from 1967 onwards used as South Yemeni Dinar in the People's Republic of Yemen
The plural فلوس / fulūs , often also pronounced rivers , applies in many other Arab countries, e.g. B. Syria, Lebanon and Palestine / Israel, and with exiled Arabs as a term for change or money in general.
