Filter House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Filter House is a subordinate music genre of the House genre . It is characterized by the automated use of filters . Almost all current dance and house productions are characterized by the use of filters.

In most cases, low-pass filters are used, which means that the sound initially sounds muffled, then gradually the higher frequencies are faded in.

The effect can either be applied to individual tracks of the track , e.g. B. Vocals can be used, or on the final mix (the master); then it affects the sound characteristics of the entire song.

High- pass filters are also increasingly being used in modern house productions. They are the opposite of low pass filters; with extreme use, the bass range is completely absent, and from the acoustic event only a rhythmic hissing or whisper can be heard at times . This type of filtering is more suitable for drumming . A typical sound example for the use of high-pass filters is Weekend by Michael Gray .
