Hissing noise

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A hissing sound is a sound produced by turbulent flows of air or other gases. In physics it is described by the aeroacoustic model “flow around a cylinder”. Its frequency spectrum is in the middle to the upper part of the listening area , which results in the characteristic bright timbre . The hissing is related to the noise , which has a darker timbre due to its share of lower frequencies, as well as the whistling , in which individual tones stand out clearly audibly from the frequency mix.

In the form of hissing sounds , hissing noises are integrated into human speech and are used for communication by many animal species . When making sound recordings , hissing noises are annoying, so a microphone windscreen tries to avoid them. By using high-pass filters, however, hissing noises in sound recordings can be deliberately emphasized, as is common with music genres such as the filter house .
