The Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz eGen is an Austrian regional bank based in Leibnitz in southern Styria .

history

The Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz eGen was founded on September 5, 1897 as part of the founding and at the same time the 1st general assembly of the Raiffeisen Advance Cash Association for the market town of Leibnitz, a cooperative to be registered with unlimited liability and with its headquarters in Leibnitz. The first chairman of the new banking institute was Franz Knittelfelder, bookkeeper and treasurer was Berthold Schellauf. Until 1923, the office hours were held in various inns in Leibnitz, mostly on Sundays after going to church.

On February 23, 1923, the first shop of the Raiffeisen'schen Vorschlagcasse Leibnitz was opened in Grazergasse.

At the ordinary general assembly on August 1, 1937 in the Poschauko inn on the main square, chairman Karl Werbantsch reported on the purchase of the Poschauko reality for 40,000 shillings. The long-cherished wish to have a restaurant on the main square was thus realized.

In 1966 a plot of land (corner of Bahnhofstrasse - Karl-Morre-Gasse) was purchased for the construction of the new Raiffeisen bank building.

In 1967 the Neutillmitsch branch was opened as "Autobank Tillmitsch".

On October 27, 1968, the new bank building was officially opened with a special exhibition on space travel ( original Mercury space capsule ). The property on the main square was sold to local entrepreneurs.

From 1970 to 2016 the Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz operated a branch in Wagna.

From 1995 to 1996 the main institute in Leibnitz Bahnhofstrasse was expanded and converted to its present appearance.

Company profile

Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz has been owned by the members of the cooperative since the institute was founded in 1897. Each member is co-owner of the bank and involved in the fundamental decision-making processes. Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz operates largely independently and unites both sales and operational departments under one roof. Neither background work nor staff units are outsourced to a head office. Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz is therefore also an important employer in the region.

Cooperative principle

The principle of the cooperative banks was significantly shaped in the 19th century by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen . His ideas were also very well received in Austria and led to the establishment of many institutes based on this principle. The basic purpose of credit unions is essentially to give return on invested capital and to provide credit to little people. The system is based on the mutuality of the individual cooperative members who own the institute. Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz is still committed to this basic line today. Maintaining this sovereignty and primary bank status is the company's primary goal. This means that all decisions can be made on site. The principle of direct allocation of the deposits as loans means that the added value and the capital generated in the region are retained.
