Task Force on Financial Integrity and Economic Development

The Task Force on Financial Integrity & Economic Development was in January 2009 in Washington, DC , USA, by the independent non-profit - think tank Global Financial Integrity (GFI), headquartered in the US and with the support of Norway founded and is a worldwide coalition by non-governmental organizations and by more than 50 countries, including Germany , the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the permanent secretariat of the Leading Group on Innovative Financing for Development based in Paris. The goals are better transparency and accountability within the global financial system and the detection of illegal financial flows. In 2013 the task force was renamed the Financial Transparency Coalition .

  • Binding establishment of country-specific reporting requirements on sales, profit and tax payments of multinational companies
  • Disclosure of information about beneficial owners / beneficial owners of companies and trusts.
  • Introduction of the automatic cross-border exchange of tax information
  • Harmonization of anti- money laundering measures

history

In September 2009, during the summit meeting of the group of the twenty most important industrialized and emerging countries (G20 countries) in Pittsburgh , USA, the task force called for the serious effects of the shadow financial system on poor countries to be dealt with and for concrete steps to be taken against capital flight into tax havens and shadow financial centers to undertake. According to the estimates of this working group, the amount of tax evasion funds from developing countries in "western economies" amounts to about 850 billion US dollars annually.
