The medium-sized family company Fingerhaus ( proper spelling : FingerHaus ) based in Frankenberg (Eder) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in Hesse is one of the largest German manufacturers of prefabricated wooden houses . The company was founded in 1820 as a carpentry business . Since 1948 the company has specialized increasingly in prefabricated timber construction.

history

Heinrich Finger founded a carpentry shop in the Hessian community of Burgwald in 1820 . The main trade was initially the construction of roof trusses, barns and agricultural buildings, until the start of the production of prefabricated houses with the construction of the first finger house in 1948.

The first finger model house was opened in 1983. At the beginning of the nineties, in order to expand production capacity, house production was relocated to nearby Frankenberg, where the company's main production and administration site is still located today.

In 2000, the company built a second production hall on the factory premises to meet increasing demand.

In 2002, in addition to the expansion of the administration building, a client center was opened, which provides information for clients and other interested parties. In addition to new model houses, Fingerhaus opened seven additional sales offices in 2004, thereby increasing its presence in southern Germany.

In 2005, the family company built the 5000th Finger House. A year later the client center was enlarged to approx. 1,000 m² of exhibition space and the administration building; meanwhile more than 500 houses leave the factory buildings every year. In 2008 the first model house outside of Germany was opened and the 6500th finger house was occupied by clients. In 2010, another joinery system was installed in order to produce just as many houses in two shifts as with three shifts. In addition, photovoltaic systems were installed on the hall roofs.

In addition to the production of prefabricated houses, Fingerhaus has a renovation service for the extension, renovation or heightening of buildings. Furthermore, stairs are offered as well as the construction of the cellar or the foundation plate for the prefabricated houses sold.

In 2010 production was expanded by around 2500 m² by adding a hall. With the dena efficiency house seal of approval, Fingerhaus was the first German prefabricated house manufacturer to have a house tested and certified for its energy efficiency by dena as a neutral institution.

In 2011, Fingerhaus opened the first model house in the prefabricated house world in Cologne as "Efficiency House Plus", a single-family house with a heat pump and photovoltaic system that produces more energy than the house needs for heating, hot water and household electricity.

In 2012, Fingerhaus was awarded the “Premier Plaque of Honor - Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises” as the highest recognition for its activities as a medium-sized company.

In 2013 the company celebrated 65 years of prefabricated wood construction and opened a new client center with over 1800 m² of exhibition space.

Fingerhaus is a member of the "Federal Association of German Prefabricated Construction", the "Quality Association of German Prefabricated Construction" and the "Quality Association of German Prefabricated Construction".
