Finkensteiner Moor

The Finkensteiner Moor is the remnant of a flat moor in the west of the Faaker See in Carinthia , between Finkenstein and Faak am See .

The meadows are drained by the Seebach towards Faaker See. You yourself get water from some springs from the Mittagskogel massif and from the Kanzianiberg . The meadows are extensive reeds, in the peripheral areas litter meadows. They take up around 88 hectares.

The Finkensteiner Moor is an important habitat and breeding site for birds, and an important resting and feeding place during bird migration. There are also some rare large butterflies, large and small dragonflies.

The area has been a nature reserve since 1984 and covers 74 hectares. It is entirely located in the Finkenstein market on Lake Faak .
