Finnkona is a Norwegian island located at the mouth of the Ranfjord in Fylke Nordland . The island, which is part of the Leirfjord municipality between Sandnessjøen and Nesna , is located northeast of Dønna and south of Løkta .

The highest point measures 45 meters. This means that the approximately 25 hectare island is relatively flat in contrast to the surrounding area.

There are many stone men on the island , which testify that the island has been used by humans since the Iron Age . The origin of the name is unclear, but suggests a connection with the later coastal seeds . The island was first mentioned in the land register of Olav Engelbrektsson around 1533 as a subsidiary of the Fagervika farm .

In 1994 the “Finnkona Project” started, including planting forests, building a new quay and creating a hiking trail around the island with two rest areas.
