Finsch is a very small impact crater in the central area of the Mare Serenitatis , south-southeast of the Sarabhai crater . Since it is completely covered by the lava of the Mare , one can only see a shadow-like outline. Craters with this appearance are therefore also referred to as ghost craters . The crater was named after the German explorer and ornithologist Otto Finsch .
