Fiorentino Sullo

Fiorentino Sullo (born March 29, 1921 in Paternopoli , Avellino province , † July 3, 2000 in Salerno , Salerno province ) was an Italian politician of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC) and later the Partito Socialista Democratico Italiano (PSDI), who between 1948 and 1976 and again from 1979 to 1987 a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) and was a minister several times.

Life

Member of the Chamber of Deputies and Undersecretary of State

Fiorentino Sullo completed a course of study, which he had graduated with a Laurea in lettere , and then worked as a teacher. He also completed a law degree and graduated with a Laurea in giurisprudenza . After the end of the war he became a member of the Constituent Assembly ( Assemblea Costituente ) for the Democrazia Cristiana (DC) on June 25, 1946 as a representative of Benevento and was a member of this until January 31, 1948. On June 1, 1948 he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) for the Democrazia Cristiana (DC) for the first time and served in the first legislative period between May 8, 1948 and June 24, 1953 as secretary to the President of the Chamber of Deputies. In the second legislative term he took over his first government office and was in the Scelba cabinet from February 11, 1954 to July 6, 1955, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Defense (Sottosegretari di Stato alla Difesa) . He was then from July 9, 1955 to May 19, 1957 in the Segni I cabinet and between May 23, 1957 and July 1, 1958 in the Zoli cabinet, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Sottosegretari di Stato all'Industria e commercio ) .

During the third legislative period, between July 3, 1958 and February 17, 1959, Sullo served in the Fanfani II cabinet and then from February 19 to February 23, 1959 in the Segni II cabinet as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry for State Participations (Sottosegretari di Stato all partecipazioni statali) .

On March 25, 1960, Fiorentino Sullo took over a ministerial office for the first time and held the post of Minister of Transport (Ministro dei Trasporti) in the Tambroni cabinet from March 25 to April 11, 1960 . He was then in the Fanfani III cabinet between July 26, 1960 and February 21, 1962 Minister of Labor and Social Security (Ministro del Lavoro e previdenza sociale) and from February 21, 1962 to June 21, 1963 in the Fanfani IV cabinet Minister for public works (Ministro dei Lavori pubblici) . In the fourth legislative period from June 21 to December 4, 1963, he also held the office of Minister for Public Works in the Leone I cabinet . In the fifth legislative period, Sullo was from July 9 to December 12, 1968 chairman of the Democrazia Cristiana faction in the Chamber of Deputies. In the Cabinet Rumor I he held then between 12 December 1968, and the March 24, 1969 the post of Minister of Public Instruction (Ministro della Pubblica Istruzione) . Resigned from the DC, member of PSDI and returned to the DC

On April 8, 1974, Fiorentino Sullo left the DC parliamentary group and was initially a non- party , before he joined the Partito Socialista Democratico Italiano (PSDI) on June 3, 1974 . On July 4, 1976, he resigned from the Chamber of Deputies, having previously not been re-elected in the June 20, 1976 election.

In the election of June 3 and 4, 1979 , Sullo was re-elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the PSDI for Benevento. During the eighth legislative period he was between July 11, 1979 and July 15, 1981 Chairman of the Committee on Public Works (IX Comissione (Lavori Pubblici)) . On January 7, 1982, he resigned from the PSDI and was temporarily unaffiliated member of the Chamber of Deputies before he rejoined the Democrazia Cristiana faction on August 27, 1982. In the election of June 26 and 27, 1983 , he was re-elected for the DC as a member of the Chamber of Deputies, to which he belonged until July 1, 1987.
