The province of Avellino (Italian Provincia di Avellino ) is an Italian province of the Campania region . The capital is Avellino . It has 413,926 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in 118 municipalities on an area of 2792 km².
Some traces of the violent earthquake of November 23, 1980 can still be seen today. In the province of Avellino alone there were almost 3,000 deaths and over 100,000 homeless. The damage was at least $ 15 billion.
