Lacedonia is a small town with 2170 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the southern Italian province of Avellino in the Campania region . It is part of the Comunità Montana Alta Irpinia mountain community . It lies roughly in the middle between Naples and Bari .

In 1881 the place still had 5822 inhabitants. In the place there is an old cathedral on the site of a Roman temple of Dioskur and a beautiful bell tower . There are quarries nearby.

Lacedonia was the bishopric of the diocese Lacedonia, which was merged with the diocese of Ariano on September 30, 1986 to form today's diocese of Ariano Irpino-Lacedonia .

The Rocchetta Sant'Antonio- Lacedonia station, many kilometers east of the city, on the Foggia-Potenza railway line , is the end of the Avellino – Rocchetta Sant'Antonio and Rocchetta Sant'Antonio – Gioa del Colle railway lines, which are no longer used for passenger transport .
