Bisaccia

Bisaccia is an Italian city ​​with 3719 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and was a bishopric in the province of Avellino until the 16th century . It is part of the Comunità Montana Alta Irpinia mountain community . It was destroyed in the 1980 earthquake and rebuilt near the historic site.

In ancient times the place was a city of the Samnites and was named Romulea .

Bisaccia Castle was built by the Lombards and was restored by Emperor Frederick II , who hunted in the Bisaccia forests.
