Montemarano is a municipality with 2741 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Avellino in Campania . It is located about 24 kilometers east of the provincial capital Avellino . The place is part of the Bergkomune Comunità Montana Terminio Cervialto .

Its neighboring municipalities are Cassano Irpino , Castelfranci , Castelvetere sul Calore , Montella , Nusco , Paternopoli , and Volturara Irpina .

The Montemarano train station is a few kilometers east of the town on the Avellino – Rocchetta Sant'Antonio railway, which is no longer used for passenger traffic .
