Fire Party was an emocore band that existed from 1986 to 1990 and consisted only of women.
history
At the turn of the year 1986 the four women founded their band, which is still one of the few women's bands in hardcore punk today. In addition, the drummer Nicky Thomas was one of the few Afro-American women in the hardcore punk / punk scene.
In a text published by Dischord Records it says:
“[…] DC's punk underground had produced dozens of bands, but only a handful of the musicians were women. This was not a fair representation of the DC punk community, however, as there were many women active throughout the scene, and this disparity had already become a much discussed topic with the ranks. ”
In 1988, the same year that their first EP was released, the band went on a European tour with Scream , where they also played four concerts with That Petrol Emotion in the UK. This was followed by a US tour.
In spring 1990 the band finally broke up. Before - 1989 - Dischord Records published the complete discography of the band.
