Fish rider
The fish rider is a sculpture in public space in Berlin-Wilmersdorf based on a design by the sculptor Georges Morin .
description
The sculpture stands in front of the house at Uhlandstrasse no. 150 on the corner of Pariser Strasse in Berlin's Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district . It was cast in bronze in 1929 in the Noack art foundry based on a design by the sculptor Georges Morin . The figure stands on a brick base . The height, including the base, is around two meters. It depicts a naked, slim woman riding a fish. She is not sitting on the animal, but has pressed her stretched legs against the sides of the fish, so that her buttocks float over the fish. With both hands she holds on to the dorsal fin, which protrudes far upwards. Her face with a smiling mouth is tilted slightly downwards and she looks forward down to the fish. Her hair curls back, which underlines the movement when riding. The surface of the fish is worked out in great detail. In the rear area there are a multitude of scales, the striking large eyes and the slightly open mouth can be seen in the front. The sculpture is designed as a fountain figure: a jet of water can emerge from a tube in the mouth. There is a whole series of female sculptures by Georges Morin, most of which were made as small sculptures. These include, for example, the more or less clothed figures of a tire dancer , an amazon on horseback or a female nude with a shawl .
