Foundation and successful years
The bronze caster Hermann Noack founded an art foundry in 1897 . The sculptors August Gaul and Fritz Klimsch supported the master craftsman they knew in the step into independence by continuously placing orders. In 1899 Noack moved on the ring road in the former rural community Friedenau near Berlin in the fault area Varziner street and remained there by 2009.
Most of the company's works are cast in bronze , but the artists' designs are also implemented using other materials and techniques. Some artists also like to lend a hand when casting.
From 1945 to 2009
After the Second World War , a new building for the casting hall was built on the traditional company premises on Varziner Strasse. Despite the division of Berlin, the foundry continued to work for well-known artists from Germany and abroad. In the course of the years there was also a technological advancement - in addition to classic bronze casting, there were new processes for patination or other surface refinements and casting processes for precious metals such as silver or gold.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall , contacts with East Berlin artists developed again or old contacts were renewed via the cast works stored in the depot. A further expansion of the capacities became necessary.
Since 2009
A new, significantly enlarged foundry was built in 2009 on the corner of the Spreebord and Sömmeringstrasse in Berlin-Charlottenburg . The complex, located between the Charlottenburg thermal power station and Sömmeringstrasse, consists of a spacious studio building, a new foundry, exhibition space and an administration building and operates under the sculpture center on the Spreebord .
