Rudolf Reichelt

Rudolf Reichelt (born March 24, 1890 in Berlin ; † November 26, 1971 in Hamburg-Altona ) was a German rower who won an Olympic bronze medal with an eighth in 1912 .

Reichelt started for the Berlin rowing club from 1876 . In 1911 he won the German championship in four-man without a helmsman together with Werner Dehn , Otto Liebing and Hans Matthiae . With the eighth, the Berliners lost to the eighth from Stettin in the German championship. In 1912 the eighth with Otto Liebing, Max Bröske , Max Vetter , Willi Bartholomae , Fritz Bartholomae , Werner Dehn, Rudolf Reichelt, Hans Matthiae and helmsman Kurt Runge won the German championship in front of the boat from Mainz, the boat from the Berlin RC Sport-Borussia gave up.

At the 1912 Olympic Games on Djurgårdsbrunnsviken in Stockholm, two boats competed against each other in a knockout system. The eighth of the Berlin RV from 1876 won the first round over a Hungarian eight. In the second round, two Berlin boats met, the RV from 1876 won over the boat from Sport-Borussia. In the semifinals, the boat with Reichelt lost to the later Olympic champions from London's Leander Club . since only three boats reached the semi-finals, the Germans were Olympic third.
