Georges Morin (sculptor)
Georges Morin (born April 30, 1874 in Berlin ; † February 5, 1950 ibid) was a German painter, sculptor and medalist . He created numerous sculptural works for new buildings by architects of his time as well as independent pictures, medals, statues and figures.
Life
Morin studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin from 1892 to 1896 , where he was a student of Ernst Herter and Peter Breuer, among others . After successfully passing his exams, he then stayed in Paris to study , where he was fascinated by the performances of oriental dancers in the Commedia dell'arte . He began to paint and model the dancers. He then traveled to Italy and England, then returned to Berlin and lived at Görrestrasse 16 in Berlin-Friedenau . Many other artists lived and worked in the same house or in the immediate vicinity, such as Wilhelm Haverkamp , Valentino Casal (1867–1951), Heinrich Missfeldt , Ludwig Isenbeck , Ludwig Manzel , Paul Hubrich (1869–1948) and Edmund Gomansky .
Morin became a member of the district art deputation, the Association of Visual Artists in Berlin and the Reich Association of Visual Artists Berlin . He was often able to present his works to the public at art exhibitions in Berlin.
