Gustav Roesicke

Gustav Roesicke (born July 15, 1856 in Berlin , † February 25, 1924 in Oels ) was a German agricultural politician .

Life and work

After graduating from the Köllnisches Gymnasium in Berlin , Roesicke, who was a Protestant, studied history and philosophy in Berlin , Göttingen and Leipzig , and later law. From 1881 to 1886 he was a trainee lawyer in Berlin, Halle an der Saale and Naumburg (Saale) , then he worked as a court assessor in Halle an der Saale until 1889. From 1889 he managed the Görsdorf manor near Dahme / Mark . In 1893 he participated in the founding of the Federation of Farmers (BdL) and was its chairman until 1920. After the merger of the BdL with the Deutscher Landbund to form the Reichslandbund in 1921, he was its executive president until his death. He was a member of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Province of Brandenburg and the District Railway Council Erfurt .

Political party

During the German Empire Roesicke was a member of the German Conservative Party . In 1918 he participated in the founding of the German National People's Party (DNVP).

MP

Roesicke belonged to the Prussian House of Representatives for many years. From 1898 to 1903, from 1907 to 1912 and from 1914 to 1918 he sat in the Reichstag of the German Empire. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . Then he was again a member of the Reichstag until his death .

monument

The sculptor Georges Morin created a monument to the politician for Berlin. It is in Berlin-Friedrichshain in front of the skyscraper on Weberwiese .
