The constituency of the German Reich.

The Reichstag constituency Pfalz (Bavaria) 4 was a constituency for the Reichstag elections in the German Empire from 1868 to 1918.

General

The Reichstag constituency Palatinate (Bavaria) 4 (also called Reichstag constituency Pirmasens-Zweibrücken) comprised the cities of Zweibrücken and Pirmasens as well as the surrounding district offices . The constituency had an area of ​​1,268.30 square kilometers and in 1871 100,023 inhabitants (78.86 inhabitants / km²). In 1910 the population was 178,147 (140.46 inhabitants / km²). Confessionally, the proportion of Catholics was higher than that of Protestants. In 1871 (1910) the proportion of Catholics was 55.0% (52.5%) and that of Protestants 43.2% (46.1%). The constituency was rural. 54.4% of the population lived in places with fewer than 2000 inhabitants.
