Carl Schmidt (politician, 1850)

Carl Abraham Schmidt (born July 24, 1850 in Odernheim am Glan ; † June 8, 1915 there ) was a German merchant, mayor and member of the Reichstag of the German Empire .

Life

Schmidt attended the trade school in Kaiserslautern and did a commercial apprenticeship in Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1870/1871 he took part in the Franco-German War as an officer . He took over his father's business in Odernheim, where he had also been mayor since 1899.

On March 30, 1906, as a candidate for the National Liberal Party, he won a replacement election in the Reichstag constituency Pfalz 6 ( Kaiserslautern , Kirchheimbolanden ) and was a member of the Reichstag until the end of the legislative period in 1907.
