Peter Breuer (sculptor)
Peter Christian Breuer (born May 19, 1856 in Cologne , † May 1, 1930 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor and medalist .
Life
Peter Breuer completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason in Cologne . In 1874 he went to the Munich Art Academy . After completing his studies, he moved to Heinrich Hoffmeister in Berlin and from 1878 studied with Fritz Schaper in Berlin . Breuer taught since 1896 as a professor of sculpture at the Berlin-Charlottenburg Art Academy, today's Academy of the Arts . In 1898 he was appointed a member of the Royal Academy of Arts . His students included Hans Dammann , Fritz Röll , Leopold Fleischhacker , Felix Pfeifer , Johann Robert Korn , Eugen Senge-Platten and Rudolf Belling . In 1894 he received a small gold medal at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and a large one in 1897. Breuer was one of the pioneers of modernism in the Berlin sculpture school . He died in 1930 and was buried in the Sebastian-Kirchhof Berlin-Reinickendorf (grave was leveled).

- 1894: Düsseldorf: Adam and Eve marble group at the Great Art Exhibition, 1941 moved to the Flora Park on Palmenstrasse; Significantly damaged in 1942, restored in 1954 by the sculptors Rudolf Christian Baisch and Hermann Isenmann (missing parts replaced)
- 1900, October 16: Breslau , Königsplatz: Bismarck monument (statue), not preserved
- 1901: Berlin-Tiergarten , in the Siegesallee in the Tiergarten : Monument group 23 , statue of Elector Johann Sigismund von Brandenburg, with assistant busts of Count Fabian von Dohna and Thomas von dem Knesebeck ; Still preserved and for the lapidary in the Spandau Citadel provided
