The southern part of the fish pond near the Wismar district of Kluß is mainly located in the municipality of Dorf Mecklenburg in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg about 1000 meters east of the federal highway 106 . The water is poorly structured with a pronounced northern bay and lies in a shallow dead ice depression, which mossed in the post-ice age. The northern tip belongs to the urban area of Wismar . The Wallensteingraben, only separated by a wall, leads north past the lake. The fish pond belongs to the nature reserve pond area Wismar-Kluß . On the north bank of the water is the small village of Kluss. The Ludwigslust – Wismar railway line runs very close to the west of the pond. It has a north-south extension of about 350 meters and a west-east extension of about 730 meters.
