Five for Fighting is the stage name of the singer-songwriter John Ondrasik (born January 7, 1965 in San Fernando Valley , California ). He made his breakthrough with America Town in 2000. The name is a term in ice hockey and means five minutes of expulsion for a tough foul. Ondrasik took this name because he thought the name was easier to remember than his own. The music can be assigned to piano rock.

Live and act

Five for Fighting's first album, Message for Albert, was a commercial failure, however, it was re-released by Capitol Records after the great success of America Town . The second album America Town was successful thanks to the song Superman (It's not easy) . This song was in the Billboard Top 100 for more than 30 weeks . The third album The Battle for Everything was also a huge hit in America. On August 1, 2006, his fourth album Two Lights was released with the single The Riddle .

While Five for Fighting is particularly popular with adult contemporary radio stations in America, it is rather unknown in Europe, but some songs are in American series such as Dawson's Creek , Scrubs , Smallville , OC, California , JAG , The Heavenly Joan or Criminal Minds to be heard.
