The Fjærlandstunnel is a single-tube road tunnel between Lunde in the municipality of Sunnfjord and Bøyadalen in the municipality of Sogndal in the Norwegian province of Vestland . The tunnel along Riksvei 5 is 6,397 meters long and the only tunnel in the world that runs under a glacier (Bøyabreen).
The tunnel created a land connection between Skei and Fjærland and was opened by the then Vice President of the USA Walter Mondale , whose ancestors come from Mundal.
