history

1909-1950

The German air filter construction company with limited liability (DELBAG for short) was founded in 1909 in Breslau by the engineer August Keller and the businessman Hans Wittemeier . The DELBAG brand (then still written as Delbag) was registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office on July 5, 1918 . The original DELBAG logo was designed by poster artist and commercial artist Erwin Reusch .

On February 2, 1920 Otto Happel Sr. (* 1882; † December 26, 1948) founded the "Society for Entstaubungs-Anlagen mbH", or GEA for short, in Herne / Bochum . After Otto Happel Sr.'s death, the company was managed by his wife Elisabeth Happel until 1975.

1951-2010

In 1953, when GEA Konvektorenbau Happel KG was founded, the manufacture of convectors was consolidated. Otto Happel Jr. took over the management of the GEA Group in 1975 at the age of 27 .

The takeover of DELBAG Luftfilter GmbH, Berlin by GEA in 1990 ended the entry into air filter technology.

In 2006, DENCO, a manufacturer of precision air conditioning cabinets founded in 1944, based in Hereford , Great Britain, was taken over by GEA.

2011-2016

On June 20, 2013, GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft announced, with the approval of the Supervisory Board, that it would be separating from the Heat Exchangers segment.

On November 1, 2014, GEA Heat Exchangers was subsequently sold to the German-Swedish private equity company Triton Partners .

On November 9th, 2015, HX Holding GmbH, to which FläktGroup also belonged, announced the new name Kelvion for its heat exchanger division. The remaining segments of the former Heat Exchangers division were separated and have since operated under different names and with a different market presence. GEA Air Treatment became DencoHappel GmbH in the area of heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology and Enexio in the area of cooling components as well as ash and water treatment.

In 2016 DencoHappel merged with Fläkt Woods to form the FläktGroup. The newly founded FläktGroup focuses on energy-efficient solutions in the field of ventilation, filter and air conditioning technology and fire protection solutions.

With the entry in the commercial register on November 14, 2017, the name DencoHappel GmbH was changed to FläktGroup Deutschland GmbH.
