history

The origins of Kelvion go back to 1920, when Otto Happel founded the Gesellschaft für Entstaubungsanlagen mbH, GEA for short. In the first few decades, the company greatly expanded its business activities in the field of heat exchange, leading the industry early on with its innovations in the field of heat technology and setting benchmarks in terms of technological standards.

In 1999, GEA was bought by mg technologies (successor to Metallgesellschaft), which was renamed GEA Group AG in 2005 . In 2010, GEA bundled all of its heat exchanger activities in one GEA Heat Exchangers ("HX") segment. GEA Heat Exchangers GmbH formed the holding company for this segment.

On June 20, 2013, the GEA Group announced that it was separating from the GEA Heat Exchangers Segment. From January 1, 2014, HX Holding GmbH acted as the segment's holding company.

In April 2014, the sale of the GEA Heat Exchangers Segment to the German-Swedish private equity company Triton Partners was announced with effect from November 1, 2014. The sale was successfully completed on October 31, 2014 with economic effect as of January 1, 2014.

On November 9, 2015, HX Holding GmbH announced the new name Kelvion for its heat exchanger division. The remaining business areas of the former GEA Heat Exchangers Segment will operate under different names and with a different market presence:

In 2018, Rocore , a manufacturer and supplier of heat exchange products in the USA, officially became part of the Kelvion Group in September. Triton Partners had already acquired the company in October of the previous year.
