Flag Island ( English , Russian Остров Флаг Ostrow Flag , German ' Flag Island ' ) is an irregularly shaped island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . In the group of the Rauer Islands , it lies between Hop Island and Filla Island .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the name into English on March 7, 1991.
