Friendship flame
Coordinates: 51 ° 39 ′ 12.6 ″ N , 11 ° 30 ′ 29.3 ″ E The flame of friendship is a 15 meter high obelisk in Hettstedt . It was inaugurated on October 3, 1974 and is a reminder of the connection of the metal works in Hettstedt to the Russian natural gas network .
execution
The concrete base, clad with polished porphyry natural stone, and the concrete shaft are 10.5 meters high. The shaft weighs 6 tons. The flame bowl on this is made of bronze and has the same weight. The flame is made of copper sheet .
history
The artistic design was the responsibility of the artist Otto Leibe from Halle (Saale) , who also created the plaster model for the flame. The shell was cast on July 7, 1974 in the machine shop "Ernst Thälmann".
The monument was included in the list of monuments of the state of Saxony-Anhalt as a monument under registration number 094 65015 000 000 000 000 .
