The Flash is a single-handed sailing dinghy and a unit class . Except for the longer boom and the larger sail, it is identical to the Splash dinghy and is mostly sailed by adults.

It was further developed from the Splash by Roel Wester , a successful OK sailor , for young people from the age of 18. The Flash is made in the Netherlands . In 2004 around 2400 boats were in service around the world, around 1000 of them in Europe . The boat size is 3.55 x 1.30 m and she has a draft of 0.72 m. It is therefore suitable for single-handed sailing . The sail area is 7.0 square meters, the weight of the hull is 55 kg. The Flash is currently a national unit class whose recognition as an international class is being prepared.

The class regulations of the Flash are largely identical to those of the Splash. They are closed class regulations.

The wide and deep cockpit offers sufficient freedom of movement and comfortable opportunities for riding out. Splash and Flash are mostly used in the Netherlands as preparatory classes for other dinghy classes, because they primarily promote sailing skills, self-discipline, tactics and body control thanks to the strictly identical and technically relatively simple equipment.

The class association of the Splash SKOG is also the class association of the Flash. Regattas usually take place together. When the Splash sail the World Championships, the Flash Eurocup takes place at the same time. In Germany, a small regatta scene has now established itself in the north. The first fleets are in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia, and the first boats are also in Berlin, the Bavarian Forest and Lake Constance.
