Flavius ​​Mallius Theodorus

Flavius ​​Mallius Theodorus (also Flavius ​​Manlius Theodorus ) was a Roman writer and politician at the turn of the 4th to the 5th century AD.

In 399 Mallius held the consulate . He was a Christian and wrote many now lost writings on various subjects (philosophy, astronomy and geometry). His work on meters (De metris) , which is considered to be one of the best of its kind, has survived.

According to the Panegyricus Claudians , which was written in his honor , Manlius began his career as an advocatus at the court of a Praetorian prefect . Later he was praeses of a district in Africa , governor (consularis) of the province of Macedonia , magister epistularum Gratians and finally comes sacrarum largitionum . 382/383 was Mallius praefectus praetorio per Gallias , then in 397/399 and probably again 408/409 praefectus praetorio Italiae .

Augustine of Hippo dedicated his work De beata vita to him in 386 .
