Fleckerl ( pronunciation : [ ˈfɫek: ɑɫ ]) or Fleckerln are an Austrian type of noodle and a traditional component of Austrian cuisine .

Fleckerl are small, square or diamond-shaped egg pasta that is punched out of a rolled-out egg-containing dough during machine production and sold as a long- life , ready-to-cook product when dried. Patches are needed to prepare the ham patches and cabbage patches .

In Bohemian cuisine there are fleky derived from the Austrian name . In Croatian and Serbian it is flekice (plural for feminine flekica), as in šunka flekice and kupus flekice. The Italian cuisine has a variant called quadrucci , the name of which comes from the square shape. The dough for Italian pasta is mostly prepared without eggs. In Bavaria , a variant of the Fleckerln is used as a soup .
