Ham steaks
Schinkenfleckerl are a typical specialty of Austrian and Bohemian cuisine. The main ingredient cooked so-called apply Fleckerln and chopped ham , smoked meat or part Sames . Green salad is served as a side dish . Schinkenfleckerl are an elementary component of typical Viennese cuisine and are offered there in restaurants, at Heurigen and buffets as well as in butcher shops.
Schinkenfleckerl are offered in the most common, the cheese-baked version, as well as in a simple version. The ham mixed with ham was first mentioned in the middle of the 18th century. The royal chef Franz G. Zenker arranges them in his theoretical and practical guide to Kunstbäckerey as steamed pudding one.

Simple ham steaks
Ham (or part of it) is finely cut and heated in butter, then cooked pasta dough and sour cream are added, seasoned with salt and pepper and steamed briefly.
Baked ham sticks
For classic gratinated ham stains, butter, egg yolks and sour cream are first stirred in a bowl and seasoned with nutmeg, salt and pepper, then the cooked stains with diced ham or some semolina are added and stiffly whipped egg whites are added . The mixture is poured into a casserole dish that has been coated with butter and sprinkled with breadcrumbs, smoothed out and baked in the oven.

The Schinkenfleckerl are sung about in a song from 1936 by Fritz Spielmann . The title reads “With your Schinkenfleckerln plays oiwäu des Fleisch versteckln!” The song Schinkenfleckerln was published in 2006 on an album by Peter Alexander .
