The Fleißenbachtalbrücke is a 159 m long road bridge that spans the Fleißenbach in the course of bypassing the B 92 near Bad Brambach .

background

The border crossing of the B 92 in Schönberg was until December 21, 2007 the only border crossing between Saxony and the Czech Republic that could be used by trucks without restrictions, alongside the crossings on the A17 in Breitenau and the S 148 in Neugersdorf . As part of the E 49 , the B 92 has an important connection function between the A 72 or the regional center of Plauen and the north-west Bohemian region around Cheb (Eger). After 1990 the proportion of heavy goods traffic on this route increased sharply. In 2007, an average of 3,750 cars and 600 trucks passed the Schönberg border crossing. The high traffic volume made the construction of the 3.9 km long bypass Bad Brambach necessary, in the course of which the Fleißenbachtal bridge was built in 2000/2001.

construction

The Fleißenbachtal Bridge is a reinforced concrete structure with an elevated roadway. It has an arched course with a radius of curvature of 270 m. Due to the tightness of the radius, the arch structure was spread open. The spans of the 13-span construction are 4x13.0 m + 2x12.0 m + 3x11.0 m + 2x12.0 m + 2x13.0 m, which results in a total span of 159 m. The arch span is 72.3 m.

Quote

Particular attention was paid to the crossing of the Fleißenbach valley. In order to preserve the character of the valley, an arched reinforced concrete bridge with elevated roadway was chosen. (...) The lines (of the bypass) fit perfectly into the landscape of the Vogtland. In addition to the commercial road bridges and the railway bridge, the Fleißenbachtal bridge in particular, with its dominating arch, makes the route appear elegant, but also true to scale to the proportions of the surroundings.
