As a meat dish or meat dish refers to various dishes from the meat of slaughtered animals , poultry and game . They are often used as a warm starter , intermediate dish or large meat dish and roast .

Typical types of preparation are frying (cooking method) , sautéing , stewing or poeling , deep-frying , grilling , poaching and braising .

Internationally, the terms Plats de viande or volaille et gibier from French or English Meat or Poultry and Game dishes are used for meat dishes.
