The listed building on Fleischhauerstraße 20 (today also Königstraße 67a) in Lübeck was built in the years 1906-1908 as a municipal administration building.

Interior of the building

The ground floor is now used by retailers. Vis-à-vis the entrance was once the now walled up passage to the cash desk . To the right is the main staircase that winds around the elevator . This is still doing its job.

The cash desk was a hall covered by a glass roof that reached up to the counters . Today the floor under the roof has been removed and a mezzanine floor has been added at the height of the upper rung of the window facing Königstrasse . The atrium extends to the basement.

For the upper floors, the cashier's hall forms an open courtyard around which the two building wings are grouped. The office space rented by the city is located in the corridors surrounding the courtyard . Senators like Cay Diedrich Lienau and Julius Vermehren had their offices here.

On the second floor there is an 18th century hall from the side wing of the former Dimpker house ( Breite Straße 12). This is one of the city's important preserved Rococo interiors from 1762, consisting of a rich stucco ceiling with rocailles and floral tendrils in the volutes . The paneling is made of oak. Gilded rocailles and flower hangings can be seen in the panels of the paneling. It is brightened up by two wall mirrors on the window side of the room, which are also richly decorated with ornaments. In the paneling there is a wall cupboard and in the niche there is a tiled stove made of Stockelsdorf faience with blue and white tiles set off in gold. The mayor of Lübeck, Joachim Peters, commissioned this interior design .

The round - arched windows facing Königstrasse have been expanded into arcades during the renovations , which lead into an arcade alongside.

history

The property was first mentioned as being developed in 1293. The city of Lübeck bought the property in 1899 and initially used it as a military casino . In 1908 it was used by the city's tax authorities. According to the tax authorities, the Lübeck tax office and the municipal administration used the building for many years.

The property on Königstrasse was first number 69, then 67 and today 67a. The grand piano housed the Hintze & Stech company until the Lübeck bookstore Weiland moved its headquarters into the premises.

Weiland was taken over by Hugendubel in 2012 and disappeared as a name from Lübeck at the end of October that year.
