The Flett Crags are ledges in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range they tower 8 km north of Mount Wegener on the northern slope of the Read Mountains .
The United States Navy took the first aerial photographs in 1967. The British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1972 after the British geologist John Smith Flett (1869-1947).
