history

The fighter pilot Karl Göller from Wallau im Taunus crashed shortly before the end of the Second World War on April 4, 1945 with his fighter plane in the forest area “Vockenberg” between Kützbrunn and Zimmer. An eyewitness to the crash came across a search advertisement for the fallen soldier and then sought contact with the pilot's family. Evidence such as the flight route and the time of the crash suggested that it was the fighter pilot Karl Göller. In addition, a ring from the pilot was found at the crash site, which clearly identified him. After unsuccessful attempts to rescue the body, the Göller family decided to build a grave at the crash site, which today also serves as a memorial.
