Flinn Works

Flinn Works (formerly Flinntheater ) is an independent theater and performance group . In changing, often international teams around the director Sophia Stepf , Flinn Works develops multi-perspective theater performances on topics of the globalized world. history

The group was founded in 1992 under the name Flinntheater in Kassel . In 2007 the sisters Sophia and Lisa Stepf took over the artistic direction. The core team also includes a. the musician Andi Otto , the Indian singer and actress MD Pallavi and the actor and director Konradin Kunze . The group has been operating under the new name Flinn Works since 2016 .

Besides Kassel, Berlin is the company's main production site. Flinn Works regularly cooperates with the Sophiensælen Berlin. Other partners include a. the Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) and the Kassel State Theater . In 2014, Flinn Works was awarded the Zürcher Kantonalbank sponsorship award at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel for the production Shilpa - The Indian Singer App and was nominated for the George Tabori Prize ( main prize) in 2017 . Flinn Works was invited to the Impulse (theater festival) in 2018 with Global Belly .

In 2016, the group focused on German colonial history . The performances of the play Maji Maji Flava about the Maji Maji War sparked a political debate in Tanzania about reparations payments in January 2017 .

With Mangi Meli Remains , Flinn Works created a video sculpture and photo exhibition for the first time in 2018 .
