The Flisa bru with a length of 181.5 meters and a span of 71 meters is currently one of the largest wooden bridges in the world.
The bridge was rebuilt in 2003 and is located in Flisa, Norway . It connects the two banks of the Glomma River , has two lanes and a footpath and was needed to replace an old steel bridge that had become dilapidated. The road over the Glomma is referred to in Norway as "Road 206", a main road of the second order. The place Flisa is located between the cities of Elverum and Kongsvinger , about 30 kilometers west of the Swedish border.
The bridge was assembled from huge pre-fabricated tensioning frames weighing up to 70 tons. For this purpose, the most powerful mobile cranes available in Northern Europe were transported to Flisa. The construction of this bridge cost Norway around 16 million Norwegian kroner (almost 2 million euros).
