Florencia Trinidad (born March 2, 1976 in Monte Grande ), known under the stage name Florencia de la V as an abbreviation for Florencia de la Vega , born as Roberto Carlos Trinidad, is a transsexual Argentinian actress, humorist and travesty artist. She is known almost exclusively by her artist name and, according to her own account, also uses it in her private life.

Life

Born a man and raised in poor circumstances, Trinidad discovered in her youth the desire to dress as a woman. After studying fashion design , she began to appear in a club in Buenos Aires, first under the stage name Karen , then as Florencia de la Vega as a transvestite, where he attracted the attention of the Argentine show business. So she came to a steep television career that earned her several roles in series, telenovelas and films. Today she uses the abbreviated version of the stage name Florencia de la V because of a dispute with a woman of the same name in which she was forbidden to use the full version.

In 2004 she made her international breakthrough with a leading role in the very successful family series Los Roldán , in which she plays a gay man who leads a double life as a transvestite. The series was u. a. shown in Mexico , Colombia, and the United States . As an aftermath, the Chicago Tribune newspaper devoted an extensive report to her, which primarily examined the question of how a transvestite could achieve such fame in the macho - conservative society of Argentina. In 2006 and 2007 she took part both as a competitor and as a jury member in the game show Showmatch . In addition to her work on television, she also appears in the theater, especially in comedies. De la V was named in 2007, according to a survey by the television channel E! Entertainment voted 7th sexiest women in Argentina .

In 2010, Trinidad managed to officially assume an identity as a woman without having to undergo a sex change operation. Her real name is now Florencia Trinidad , but she continues to be active in public under her stage name.
