Florent Laville (born August 7, 1973 in Valence ) is a former French football player .

Career

Laville, who was trained at Olympique Lyon in his youth , was 20 when he first appeared for the club's top division team in early 1994. He then made the leap to become a regular in a team that reached second place in the table in 1995, which also brought the player his first experience in European competition. A year later, the club failed in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue at FC Metz , which Laville missed a possible first title.

In the same year he was invited to the 1996 Olympic Games ; in the football tournament he managed with the French selection the way to the quarter-finals, which, however, brought with it the elimination in a tournament in which Laville did not get beyond a use in the group stage.

Within the club he continued to occupy a regular place until he suffered a serious knee injury during the 2000/01 season. After he had recovered from this, the growing competition for the Swiss Patrick Müller was stronger than before, so that he had permanent difficulties returning to the first team. He did not succeed, which is why he was involved in the 2002 championship with no more than 13 missions; a year earlier he had been able to celebrate another success by winning the Coupe de la Ligue.

In January 2003 he was given to the English first division side Bolton Wanderers given his difficult situation in Lyon . First he ran there regularly, but then injured again and then recovered poorly, so that in February 2005 he was awarded to the second division club Coventry City . Laville did not return to Bolton in the summer of 2005, preferring to move to the French second division when he signed with the Corsican club SC Bastia . In Bastia he occupied a regular seat until he had to undergo a cervical vertebra surgery in September 2006 and did not return to the game. In spring 2007, at the age of 33, he officially announced the end of his career.
